There were 204 road accidents in Russia over the past day
Over the past 24 hours, 204 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 21 people were killed and 264 injured. 18 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, February 7, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 81 accidents, 33 of which occurred at crosswalks and 48 outside their zone of action, three pedestrians were killed, another 82 were injured of varying severity. With participation of minors for the past 24 hours 23 accidents were registered, as a result of which 25 young road users were injured, including 17 pedestrians and eight child passengers. There were no children killed. Nine accidents involving buses were recorded, in which three people were killed and 14 other road users were injured. The cause of six accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers.
Thus, in the Smolensk region, at 362 km of the federal highway M-1 "Belarus" (Moscow - the border with Belarus), the driver of a bus with three passengers in the cabin hit a cable barrier separating traffic flows of opposite directions, and then drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a truck. As a result of the accident both drivers were killed, one of the bus passengers was injured and after medical treatment was sent for outpatient treatment.
In several northern and far-eastern regions of the country, temporary restrictions and closures of vehicular traffic continue due to adverse weather conditions. Thus, in the Murmansk region, due to snowfall and snowstorms, traffic on three regional highways has been temporarily stopped. In the Sakhalin region due to worsening weather conditions in the form of snow, snowstorm, gusty winds and limited visibility temporarily stopped traffic on the section of the federal highway A-393 "Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Okha" from 13 to 207 km.
In Khabarovsk Krai for the same reasons the movement of buses and trucks on two sections of the federal highway A-376 "Khabarovsk - Vanino - Komsomolsk-on-Amur" and the section from 0 to 625 km of the regional highway "Selikhino - Nikolaevsk-on-Amur" is limited. Due to snowfall, snowstorms and gusty winds, a temporary traffic restriction for buses was introduced in the Jewish Autonomous Region - on more than 350-kilometer section of the federal highway R-297 "Amur" from 1752 to 2103 km.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate recommended drivers to keep a close eye on the weather forecast and media reports from the places of road closures or traffic restrictions when planning long-distance trips. In case of bad weather, strong winds and snowfall and blizzards it is worth refraining from using personal vehicles for a while, and in urban conditions - to use the services of public transport.

On January 28, the head of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, Lieutenant General of Police Mikhail Chernikov, said that the number of people killed in traffic accidents last year had decreased by 0.9%. The head of the Russian State Automobile Inspectorate noted that, according to preliminary data, the number of car accidents decreased by 0.7%, while the number of people injured in them - by 1.5%.
