There were 222 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, 222 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 29 people were killed and 272 injured. This was reported to "Izvestia" on February 4 in the State Automobile Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

As a result of 83 accidents, 35 of which occurred at crosswalks and 48 - outside their zone of action, six pedestrians were killed, 81 more - received various injuries, the agency said. In addition, 27 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 34 young road users were injured, including 13 pedestrians and 19 child passengers.

In the Novosibirsk region the driver of a passenger car, who in August last year was deprived of his driving license for a year and a half for driving while intoxicated, drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car. As a result of the accident five people were killed: the perpetrator of the accident and his passenger, as well as the driver and two passengers of the second car. Three more passengers of the colliding vehicles were hospitalized with various injuries.

A similar car accident occurred in the Murmansk region: the driver of a passenger car drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car. The accident injured the driver and his passenger, as well as the driver of the second car and two of his passengers, including a five-year-old girl who was in the back seat without a child restraint device and was not wearing a seat belt. All five participants of the accident were hospitalized with injuries.

In Orenburg, early in the morning, a driver hit a 60-year-old pedestrian (who was hospitalized) who was crossing the roadway in the absence of an organized crosswalk in the visibility zone. The pedestrian was hospitalized. At the scene of the accident, due to the negligence of the service organization, in addition to the crosswalk, there were no road markings, sidewalks and lighting. The service organization was warned about the inadmissibility of violations of mandatory requirements for the operation of the road in the city limits.

The traffic police urges motorists to strictly observe the traffic rules and driving discipline. Drivers need to refuse risky manner of driving, especially in winter bad weather, the agency reminds.

"Negligence of the established speed regime and making dangerous maneuvers, is a prerequisite for committing accidents with serious consequences. Getting behind the wheel, drivers need to constantly remember that not only their lives, but also the lives and health of other road users, including the most vulnerable category - children - depend on their skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior during the trip - stressed in conversation with "Izvestia" Deputy Head of the Department of road safety propaganda and prevention of children's road traffic injuries of the State Department of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan.

Earlier it became known that a criminal case was opened against the driver, who the day before hit three pedestrians at a crosswalk in New Moscow. As a result of this accident, two people died at the scene, a 22-year-old girl was sent to hospital with various injuries.
