- The GBI of Ukraine has learned about evasion of service in one of the brigades of the AFU for money
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) material support group of the 110th separate mechanized brigade charged soldiers money for the opportunity to evade service. This was reported in the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of the country on January 23.
"Charged the commander of the material support group of the 110th separate mechanized brigade, who participated in the extortion of subordinate servicemen. Since January 2024, the military in collusion with his supervisor - deputy commander of the brigade, organized a mechanism for obtaining money from servicemen who did not want to serve," - noted the GBI in Telegram-channel.
It is noted that more than 50 people thus evaded service for bribes to the leadership of the AFU.
According to the agency, such machinations caused damage to the state for more than 3 million hryvnias. The incident is being investigated.
Before that, on 13 January, it became known that an employee of the Mykolaiv regional military enlistment office was detained in Ukraine for money, who helped citizens liable for military service to avoid mobilization. It was reported that the employee of the military enlistment office and his colleague offered to help the persons liable for military duty to avoid mobilization. For a payment of $4-5,000, they promised to influence doctors to forge medical documents with false diagnoses when passing the military medical commission.
Martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 2022. Then the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky (powers expired on May 20, 2024) signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
