Trump called Putin a smart man
US President Donald Trump called Russian leader Vladimir Putin a smart man, the politician said during a meeting with journalists on January 22.
"He [Putin. - Ed.] is smart, he understands," Trump noted. The broadcast was conducted on the YouTube channel of the White House.
Also, the American leader added that Putin, in his opinion, did not respect former US President Joe Biden, notes "Gazeta.Ru". And expressed hope that his contact with the Russian President could take place "very soon."
Earlier, on January 21, the press Secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is not yet preparing a telephone conversation between Putin and Trump. Thus, the Kremlin spokesman responded to the question whether Trump's team had made contact with Moscow and whether the preparation of the conversation between the heads of state had begun.

After that, he reiterated that he plans to meet with Putin as soon as possible and discuss the conflict in Ukraine.
