The Buk-M3 SAM team shot down HIMARS MLRS shells in the Krasnoarmeysk direction
The Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system of the Center group of troops has shot down HIMARS multiple launch rocket system shells in the Krasnoarmeysk direction. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 21.
In the course of combat duty, the Buk-M3 SAM system of the group identified and intercepted an aerial aerodynamic target heading towards the positions of Russian troops.
The servicemen carried out a launch, hitting US-made HIMARS MLRS rockets with an anti-aircraft guided missile. After the elimination of enemy shells, the calculation promptly concealed the combat vehicle in the shelter.
"Our combat mission is to cover the airspace, to cover objects and troops from air strikes. The enemy uses mainly HIMARS MLRS," said the commander of the anti-aircraft missile battery, Captain Vladislav Mikhaylov.
Earlier, on January 19, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that tankers of the Center group of troops destroyed an AFU stronghold in the Krasnoarmeysk direction. Russian servicemen received coordinates from scouts, went to a firing position and then destroyed the stronghold at a distance of up to 5 kilometers.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
