A civilian was injured in Belgorod region in an AFU strike

A resident of the Belgorod region has suffered as a result of a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the region's governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on January 16.

"Over Belgorod and Belgorod district our air defense system worked - air targets were shot down. Preliminarily, one civilian was wounded. A man with shrapnel wounds to the head and forearm is taken by an ambulance brigade from the village of Belovskoye, Belgorod district, to the regional clinical hospital," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to preliminary data, windows were broken and facades of two private houses were cut, a garage was damaged on the territory of one house. Shrapnel also damaged five cars.

In addition, the facade of a social facility and three cars were damaged in the village of Razumnoye, Belgorod District. Another car was damaged in Belgorod as a result of falling shrapnel.

Information on the consequences is being clarified. Operational services are working on the ground.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 27 Ukrainian drones over four regions of Russia.

Over the territory of the Belgorod region , 15 of them were shot down. Another AFU drone was eliminated in the region the previous evening.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
