Composer Maxim Dunayevsky turns 80 years old
Famous composer Maxim Dunayevsky celebrates his 80th birthday on January 15. In a conversation with Izvestia, he told whether the music industry has changed over the past few years.
"There are no those most memorable themes, melodies that are written for cinema, theater, that would go out to the people and separate from their original source. Such were the movies of [composer] Alexei Rybnikov's 'Little Red Riding Hood,' 'Pinocchio'... And there were other movies where there were no songs, but the melodies still remained. This is just a property of talented music," he said.
Dunayevsky noted that such a situation is observed both in Russia and abroad. The composer also pointed out that for him the indicator of the success of music was the moment when it was separated from the movie or production in which it was used.
"We forget even the word ... But composer is a more intense word. It wasn't easier for us, it was just that society and the state valued creativity," said Dunayevsky.
