On Wednesday, December 18, the FSB announced the detention of a suspect in connection with the terrorist attack on Ryazansky Prospekt. The explosion, which killed the head of the RF Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCBZ), Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov, was carried out by a 29-year-old native of Uzbekistan.

The man has already testified and told about the orderers of the murder. The executor was promised $100 thousand and a trip to one of the EU countries for committing the terrorist act.

Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk added in her Telegram channel that he was detained in the village of Chernoye near Balashikha near Moscow and handed over to the investigative authorities.

Criminal case on the murder of General Kirillov: what threatens the criminal

Operative-search activities were carried out by three services simultaneously - the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee. After the citizen of Uzbekistan was detained, he was handed over to investigators for interrogation and documentation of the incident.

During the inquest, he himself told about what had happened and said that he had been recruited by the Ukrainian special services. According to the young man, following instructions, he arrived in Moscow, where he received an improvised explosive device. The bomb was placed on an electric scooter parked at the entrance of the house where Igor Kirillov lived. It also became known that the criminal rented a car in which he installed a video surveillance camera, and the recording from it was broadcast directly to the city of Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk) in Ukraine.

"I came to Moscow on an assignment from the Ukrainian security services. Then I bought a scooter, and a few months later the things for the bomb arrived. I took them too, then everything was prepared and put near the house," the detainee says in the video.

For the crimes committed, he could face life imprisonment.

"Employees of the special services of Ukraine, involved in the organization of the terrorist attack, will be tracked down and will be punished deservedly," - concluded the FSB.

What is known about the activities of General Kirillov and his customers

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on December 18 that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense (RCBZ) troops of the Russian Armed Forces, and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov.

"It is now obvious who are the customers, who are the organizers of this terrorist act. It is once again confirmed that the Kiev regime does not shy away from terrorist methods of work," the presidential spokesman said, adding that the authorities have an understanding of who the enemy is and what it is capable of.

Responding to questions about whether the Kremlin considers the killing of a senior Defense Ministry official to be another crossing of "red lines" and whether security will be beefed up for the agency's leadership, Peskov said the orderers are already known and Russia will continue to fight them.

"We are fighting the customers [of this terrorist attack], we are fighting this Nazi regime and we will continue the fight," he said.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that Igor Kirillov has become a real bone in the throat for assorted Russophobes in the West.

The diplomat called Igor Kirillov's death an irreparable loss, and the general himself a dedicated to his duty, reliable and decent man.

"He served fearlessly, defended the homeland, did not hide behind backs. He became an exposer of American laboratories in Ukraine, revealed the facts of the use of chemical weapons by Ukrainian militants, dirty bomb making and preparation of provocations using bioagents," the diplomat said.

For many years, he systematically, reasonably exposed the criminal activities of the Anglo-Saxons and NATO, in general, in the area where they have made the world the arena of the next manipulations: chemical weapons, biological security, Zakharova added.

"I have no doubt who was the executor, who was the customer," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman emphasized.
