The UK reported the detention in Belarus of the organizer of the "paper" VAT scheme
The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia is waiting for the extradition of the organizer of the "paper" VAT scheme detained in Belarus. This was announced on October 18 by the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin.
"Alexander Osin escaped from the investigation, but was detained on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The documents necessary for his extradition have been sent to the authorized bodies of this country," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Bastrykin added that criminologists recovered deleted data stored on the mobile device of one of the defendants, which helped to establish the roles of all 12 accomplices and identify other defendants.
On April 17, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court in Moscow chose a preventive measure in the form of detention until June 14 in respect of three defendants in the case of organizing a fraudulent scheme with "paper VAT", as a result of which the budget of the Russian Federation suffered damage in the amount of 1.2 trillion rubles.
On April 15, searches were conducted in the regions of the Russian Federation at the organizers of the largest paper VAT platform, which was used to avoid paying taxes through fictitious companies.
On the same day, law enforcement officers uncovered a criminal group that had deprived the budget of 1 trillion rubles of taxes. According to the investigation, from 2023 to the present, the attackers have created a network of more than 4 thousand transit organizations. Through this infrastructure, over 40,000 companies from the real sector of the economy received fictitious value-added tax deductions.
