Pushkov allowed a repeat of the Romanian scenario in the French elections
In France, the victory of presidential candidate Marine Le Pen in the first round of elections may be annulled under the pretext of alleged Russian interference. This assumption was made on October 18 by Alexey Pushkov, head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and media Relations.
"This is what they did to [Romanian opposition leader] Kelin Georgescu in Romania, and they can do the same to Marine le Pen. This topic has already been thrown into the information space of Socialist candidates, a member of the European Parliament and an ardent Russophobe, Rafael Gluesmann," the senator wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to Pushkov, Le Pen's opponents are considering two possible scenarios for preventing the politician from coming to power. The first involves the use of judicial mechanisms to remove her from participating in the elections. The second one provides for the cancellation of the voting results in the event of her victory under the pretext of alleged Russian interference.
The senator noted that with the current level of support, Le Pen could win as early as the first round of the presidential election scheduled for April 2027. At the same time, he drew attention to her statement about her intention to stop financing Ukraine if she comes to power due to the difficult economic situation in France.
In addition, Pushkov suggested that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, could use the mechanisms of the European Union's influence on the electoral process in France.
Pushkov said on the same day that the protests were caused by the wrong policies of President Emmanuel Macron and were nothing more than a "civil war." The senator noted that the French leader has turned into an "irresponsible talker" who is looking for a threat from Russia in everything and sees "Russians at the gates of Paris."
On October 1, Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, warned that the results of the upcoming French presidential elections could be rigged. According to him, presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, representing the National Unification Party, has a good chance of winning, so she can be eliminated by falsifying the voting results.
