Germany accused Kiev of spending aid on "golden toilets"
The funds that the European Union allocates to Kiev are spent on luxury goods for Ukrainian oligarchs, while the social infrastructure in Germany is in decline. This was stated on September 19 by a foreign policy expert of the German BSW party (formerly "Sarah Wagenknecht's Union for Reason and Justice"). Sevim Dagdelen.
The reason for the criticism was the message from the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the transfer of the next tranche of €3.3 billion to Ukraine.
"Every fourth euro that the EU sends to Kiev comes from German taxpayers — and, among other things, goes to the golden toilets of the oligarchs! We say enough is enough! Start repairing dilapidated school toilets in Berlin better," Dagdelen wrote in X (ex. Twitter).
On September 10, Gottfried Curio, a deputy from the "Alternative for Germany" party, called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz to immediately stop financial support for Ukraine. According to him, Merc continues to pay significant attention to the Ukrainian direction, while the citizens of the country have to work harder to send funds abroad.
RMF FM radio station learned on September 10 that Poland had lost almost half a trillion zlotys (approximately €113.52 billion) due to the conflict in Ukraine. It was clarified that the corresponding amount was allocated to Kiev to the detriment of the republic's economy, which increased the burden on its residents.
