France criticized the allocation of €6.1 billion by the European Union to Ukraine

On September 11, the leader of the French "Get Up" party, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, was outraged by the decision of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to allocate €6.1 billion to Ukraine.

"Von der Leyen announces the allocation of an additional €6.1 billion for [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, which means that €1 billion will fall on the shoulders of French taxpayers. Our treasury is empty, taxes are rising rapidly, and the French still have to tighten their belts. But the money continues to go to other places," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Dupont-Aignan noted that the European Union spends huge amounts of money on conflicts that do not concern it, demanding "more and more victims" from its peoples.

Information about the allocation of additional funds to Ukraine in the amount of €6.1 billion appeared on the EC website earlier in the day. Von der Leyen confirmed the decision to allocate the funding in an official statement. According to her, the funds will help Kiev to purchase the necessary technical equipment and shells. In particular, the allocated funding will be used to purchase PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
