The series "Specials" will reveal the details of the fight against terrorists in the North Caucasus

The series "Specials", which will be released on REN TV in the fall of 2026, reproduces in detail the counter-terrorism operations of the special forces of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia. The creators tried not to simplify even the smallest details and showed how a sniper works and how assault operations take place. The details were reported on September 5 in a report by a correspondent of Izvestia.

"While one sees what the others don't notice, the other knows how to turn a few grams of explosives into a death trap, and the third will pin the enemy to the ground with a long burst. They are as reliable as a Kalashnikov assault rifle. They are thrown on the most risky missions, the fate of the country depends on their success," said journalist Kirill Solodkov.

This is the first time that the work of the FSB Special Forces Center will be shown on television screens in such detail and accuracy. To work, the actors had to thoroughly delve into the nuances, since a misfire in the frame is unacceptable.

One of the main characters of the series is a sniper with the call sign Shaman. While the others are counting down the seconds before the assault begins, Vadim Badmatsyrenov's hero measures the distance, wind and target movement.

"I've been preparing for this. Not knowing about this role, I've been working towards it for many years: sports, a bit of hand—to-hand fighting," Badmatsyrenov shared.

Along with the action-packed storyline, a real drama about loyalty, friendship and love unfolds.

"The guys we talk to are Heroes of Russia. But at the same time, they are primarily people," said actor Denis Donskoy.

The series is based on real events of recent history — the bombing of the Nevsky Express, the terrorist attack at Domodedovo airport, and the fight against separatists in the North Caucasus. For the first time, these events will be shown in details that only the direct participants knew about.

"It will be very interesting to see how these situations were dealt with, how they were tried to prevent them, how they struggled with their consequences," said actor Mark Ovchinnikov.

One of the episodes is dedicated to the elimination of Doku Umarov, one of the bloodiest terrorists in history. ML-8 engineering ammunition was among the most effective means of fighting militants in the North Caucasus. Federal forces used them to mine weapons caches, roads, and terrorist crossings. How deep to dig a hole for explosives, which wires to connect — this episode is shown as reliably as possible in the series.

Some of the things that the acting specialists have been working on for years at the training grounds, the actors had to study externally. As Vladimir Tyulin, General director of REN TV and general producer of "Specials", noted, even a sophisticated viewer will not be disappointed.

"The actor guys spent quite a long time at the Special Forces Training Center. From the point of view of the visual series, this is definitely an extraordinary series for television," he said.

So, 16 episodes are like 16 shots in the clip of a TV series. Each is a different story, striking on the spot. Actors, directors, technicians and make-up artists gave their best. The premiere will take place this fall on REN TV.
