The Russian UMO 5 electric car has once again become a bestseller in the segment

By the end of July 2026, 304 UMO 5 electric cars were sold in Russia. The domestic model has been the most popular in the new electric car market in Russia for the third month in a row, and it won this title for the first time in May. This was reported on August 17 by the analytical agency Autostat.

The top three best—selling electric cars in Russia also include two models of the Chinese brand Avatr - crossover 11 and fastback 12. In July, they sold 301 and 209 copies, respectively.

The fourth place is occupied by the Changan Qiyuan Q05 crossover with a result of 193 copies sold. The top five were complemented by the Evolute i-Joy crossover (107 units), produced at the Lipetsk plant. Sales of the remaining electric cars in July did not reach 60 units.

In total, 1,540 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia in July, which is 22.5% more than in July 2025. Following the results of seven months, the sales volume reached 6,151 copies, which is 8.7% more than in January — July last year.

The assembly of UMO 5 electric vehicles at the Moskvich automobile plant in Moscow began in February this year. The front-wheel drive electric crossover is an analog of the Aion Y Plus model from GAC. The project is being led by EVM in collaboration with Yandex. These cars can already be found in taxis and carsharing on the streets of Moscow. Delivery of electric cars to private buyers will begin in September. Deliveries of the large hybrid crossover UMO 8 are scheduled for October, its prices were revealed on August 7.
