The Russian government has postponed the introduction of duties on diamond exports

The Russian government has postponed the deadline for the introduction of export duties on diamonds from September 1, 2026 to March 1, 2027. The relevant resolution was published on August 11 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"In paragraph No. 2 of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated June 12, 2026 No. 733 "On Amendments to Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated November 27, 2021 No. 2068" (Collection of Legislation of the Russian Federation, 2026, No. 25, art. 3361), replace the words "from September 1, 2026" with the words "from 1 March 2027," the resolution says.

Earlier, on June 19, it became known that the Russian government was imposing an export duty on diamonds in the amount of 8% of their customs value. The new rules will affect rough diamonds weighing from 0.45 to 10.8 carats, as well as special-size stones weighing more than 10.8 carats.
