- Galuzin: Kiev wants to expand the geography of military operations and involve Belarus
Kiev is trying to expand the geography of the fighting by involving Belarus in the conflict, but such risks are being taken into account by the Russian side. This was announced on August 11 by Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
He noted that an Agreement on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State has been in force between Russia and Belarus since 2025, according to which countries can resort to a mechanism for joint response to actions threatening the sovereignty, territorial integrity or constitutional order of one of the parties.
"Any attempts to destabilize the situation and provocations against our ally [by the Kiev regime] will be regarded as an encroachment on the entire Union State," Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.
Dmitry Trenin, President of the Russian International Affairs Council, said on August 3 that Russia would use nuclear weapons not only in response to attacks on its territory. He recalled that the Russian nuclear doctrine allows the use of nuclear weapons in response to massive air and space strikes, as well as in the event of aggression against Russia or Belarus.
