- The psychologist gave advice on how to get out of the crisis due to divorce after 40 years
In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, August 4, Anastasia Cardiakos, a family psychologist and psychotherapist, told how to start life anew if the divorce occurred after the age of 40.
According to her, divorce is experienced in different ways at different ages. In youth, separation is often perceived as the loss of not only relationships, but also a part of one's own identity, since a person may not yet have financial stability, their own home, or a strong social circle. Because of this, fears arise about future relationships and trust in people. At the same time, youth leaves the feeling that there are still many opportunities ahead to start life anew.
After 40 years of age, divorce often turns out to be especially painful, since not only relationships, but also the usual way of life are collapsing. According to the expert, a person has to rethink the general way of life, the circle of friends, family traditions and plans for the future, which creates a feeling of great inner emptiness.
The psychologist noted that in adulthood, people are more likely to approach new relationships consciously. If the feeling of falling in love was the main thing in his youth, then later a partner is chosen based on common values, lifestyle and ideas about the future.
After a divorce, Cardiakos advises not to rush to find a new partner, but first to understand your own needs and find a foothold — friends, family, work, hobbies and habitual activities. She also stressed that it is important to acknowledge the loss and allow yourself to live through the grief.
According to the expert, you should not devalue long-term relationships or try to completely erase them from memory. If the divorce was accompanied by violence, infidelity, or severe psychological trauma, she recommended seeking help from a specialist.
Cardiakos added that mature age is not an obstacle to a new relationship. According to her, people start families both in their 60s and 70s, but over time, partnership becomes not so much a story about stormy romance as about intimacy, mutual support, common interests and emotional understanding.
At the end of July, clinical psychologist Vladislav Chubarov assessed the chances of couples reuniting after a divorce. Life.ru . According to him, it is possible to return the relationship after a divorce and new affairs, but in practice this rarely happens. In addition, when reconciling, people often remember only the good moments, and the reasons for the separation remain unresolved, writes RIAMO.
Clinical psychologist and sexologist Valentin Denisov-Melnikov said on July 13 that men's habit of constantly going fishing can lead to the destruction of family relationships. That is, fishing can cause a divorce if the partner prefers this hobby to socializing with his family. 360.ru .
In June, Natalia Stepanova, a divorce expert, said that relationship crises should be solved with specialists, but neural networks can also help in such situations. According to her, it is important not to abuse and not act only as prompted by artificial intelligence, writes NSN.
At the same time, family psychologist Svetlana Boyarinova stated that mediation in divorce does not help all couples, but only those who still have a willingness to discuss problems and change. An important parameter is that both should want this mediation and help, RT clarifies.
Also in June, Senator Natalia Koshikhina proposed to extend the terms of the divorce. According to her, it is necessary to consider doubling the terms of the divorce process: up to six months in the presence of children and up to three months in their absence.
