In the Moscow region, a wild fox bit off the finger of a man who was trying to protect his dog. A source told Izvestia about this on July 25.

The incident occurred in the woods during a walk. A fox appeared in the path of the man and his pit bull, with which the dog immediately grappled. The dog's owner told Izvestia that his pet was winning the fight, but he was afraid of the risk of contracting a dangerous virus and decided to intervene.

"They started a quarrel. Realizing that the fox could be a carrier of [rabies virus], I tried to separate them. But it's not so easy to take something away from my dog. As a result, I began to pull this half—dead fox out of her mouth, and she bit my hand and bit off my finger," the victim said.

As a result, the man suffered a severe injury to the ring finger of his right hand. According to him, the doctors promptly sewed the phalanx back into place, and the pet itself was urgently vaccinated against rabies after the incident.

The expert also urged not to try to rescue lonely hedgehogs or squirrels, as young animals often just explore the territory. If a wild animal has bitten a person, you should immediately consult a doctor.
