The forced return of Ukrainians from the EU began back in 2025

Captured militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated during interrogations that the process of forced return of Ukrainians from the European Union (EU) countries began at the end of 2025. This was reported on July 18 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"Interrogations of soldiers of the 103rd separate Territorial Defense Brigade captured in the Ryzhivka area have shown that the forced deportation of Ukrainians subject to mobilization has begun in EU countries since the end of 2025," a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.

He noted that as part of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade, units were created from Ukrainian citizens expelled from Europe, many of whom had lived in EU countries for more than ten years.

What privileges may they be deprived of in the near future

On July 15, the Council of the European Union announced that the EU authorities will refuse temporary protection to Ukrainians liable for military service from 2027. The new rule will apply only to new applicants and will not affect Ukrainians who have already been granted temporary protection in EU countries.

Bundestag deputy Steffen Cotre told Izvestia on June 29 that the Bundestag is discussing models for the stay of Ukrainian refugees in Germany after March 2027, in which automatic temporary protection may no longer apply to all citizens of Ukraine.
