The LDPR proposed to introduce video monitoring of landfill disposal
LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky proposed to introduce mandatory photo and video recording of all stages of the elimination of unauthorized landfills with the participation of independent public observers. This was reported on July 14 by TASS with reference to the initiative sent to the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov.
"The Liberal Democratic Party proposes to make the entire process of landfill disposal completely transparent: oblige contractors to take photos and videos of each stage of work and involve public observers in monitoring," Slutsky said in an interview with the agency.
The appeal notes that thousands of illegal landfills are discovered in Russia every year. According to Rosprirodnadzor, by the end of 2025, there were 8,674 such facilities in the country: 9,577 landfills were identified during the year, and 9,830 were eliminated.
Slutsky noted that waste disposal is carried out within the framework of municipal contracts, however, some performers may limit themselves to formally reporting on the work performed.
According to the MP, the introduction of mandatory photo and video recording will make budget spending more transparent, strengthen control over the fulfillment of obligations and reduce the number of violations in the implementation of contracts.
On June 10, the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia published footage of the detention of Rustam Kochesokov, CEO of Ekologistika LLC, suspected of tax evasion on an especially large scale. According to investigators, the management of a company operating in the field of municipal waste management and environmental protection in Kabardino-Balkaria deliberately distorted tax reporting when executing government contracts.
