The authorities of the Orenburg region should help veterans of their military to acquire new competencies, knowledge and skills for civilian work. Vladimir Putin said this on March 12 at a meeting with the head of the region, Evgeny Solntsev. The governor spoke about the successful program of reserving jobs for veterans of the special operation — more than 1,000 soldiers are already successfully working in prepared vacancies. The Kremlin also discussed the situation in agriculture — Orenburg region broke the record for grain harvest in 1968.

What was discussed at the meeting

The Orenburg Region has developed more than 60 support measures for its fighters and their families. Along with the regional equivalent of the personnel program "Time of Heroes" in Orenburg region, the initiative to reserve jobs for veterans of special operations is in demand. We have already prepared 1.5 thousand vacancies, more than 1 thousand of which are occupied by returning fighters. "We just need to help them. To help them gain new competencies, knowledge, and skills," Vladimir Putin said.

The region has achieved a record harvest since 1968, with farmers harvesting over 4.1 million tons of grain in 2025. The Orenburg region took the first place in Russia in harvesting durum wheat and the second in sunflower. One of the largest sunflower seed processing plants has also been built here: 660 thousand tons per year. "Yes, investments are growing," the president noted. Their volume to the regional economy increased by 29 billion last year, to 246 billion rubles. Also, more than 20 residents entered the Orenburg Region special economic zone, where projects totaling 65 billion rubles are being implemented.

The number of large families in the region has grown by 50% over the past 10 years: there are more than 32 thousand large families and 105 thousand children in the region. Payments are provided for this category of citizens, as well as assistance with the down payment on the mortgage. The President noted this positive trend and separately praised the Orenburg region for the development of industry and the construction industry. However, he drew attention to another acute problem. "Don't forget about industrial waste and unauthorized landfills. There are many of them in the region," the head of state noted.

The governor asked for help in rebuilding the dam, which broke in 2024, after which Orsk was flooded. The head of the region reported that a settlement with 294 houses had been built for flood victims, a 12-storey building had also been erected and the townspeople had already been settled. "The dam is large, 25 km. They began to fill it up — in some places they poured 6 m each. Plus two bridges. The issue price is 28.2 billion rubles," said Evgeny Solntsev.
