VK theme train launched in Moscow metro
On the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, on July 8, a new VK themed train began running on the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow Metro. The five-car train (10 sections) is dedicated to VK and the company's projects: "VKontakte", "VK Video" and "VK Video for Kids", "VK Music", "VK Dating", VK Play, "VK Education" and VK Fest.
"Today we have such a special anniversary. Today we are putting into operation and putting on the line the 10th anniversary themed train of this year's Moscow Metro. <...> It is dedicated to our largest Russian IT company, VK Group," said Pavel Kovalev, Deputy Head of the Moscow Metro for Personnel Management.
Passengers are told about the company's development through the lens of the subway. In the VKontakte carriage, people are greeted with emoticon reactions and personalized emoji stickers that can be created from their photos, and the dark and light themes of the social network are compared to traveling through a tunnel and going to the surface at Vorobyovy Gory station, which is located above the Moskva River.
In the VK Music carriage, you can take seats for fans of a certain genre (rock, hip-hop or pop) and turn on a selection of music to suit your mood, podcast or audiobook. The VK Video for Kids carriage turns the handrail into a content height meter and tells parents what to do with their child on the road — from cartoons to lullabies. In the VK Play carriage, the rules of behavior in the subway are presented as game modes, and it is suggested to navigate around the carriage using the keyboard.
Dmitry Uvarov, Director of Strategic Partnership at VK, said that the project will allow the company to interact with the audience not only in the digital space, but also offline. He noted that Moscow transport remains an important platform for people to communicate, and VK services help users find like-minded people and keep in touch.
"The branded train has become the place that unites two worlds: urban and digital. When we started developing the visual concept, we immediately decided to abandon the classical approach to advertising, and we really wanted to create such a vivid semantic space that would show where metro and VK intersect," said Irina Alekseeva, Director of VK's central marketing department.
The VK train will run on the Sokolnicheskaya metro line for six months.
On June 1, the Zen information platform launched the Children Online theme train in the Moscow metro, which will teach the younger generation the basics of cybersecurity. Each carriage is dedicated to different Internet threats and how to protect yourself from them. This way, passengers will be able to learn how to respond to online insults from haters and recognize calls from phone scammers.
