- The MEP pointed to the totalitarian thinking of the EU due to inspections of new factions.
The request sent by the European Parliament (EP) to check the right-wing faction of the ESN ("Europe of Sovereign Nations") testifies to the attempt of the "old parties" to interfere with the new political forces in Europe. This was stated by Peter Bystron, a member of the European Parliament from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, in an interview with Izvestia on July 7.
"This request is the actual recognition of the bankruptcy of the applicants. The so-called "old parties" are simply trying to hinder the new successful force. And this is also evidence of their totalitarian mindset. They are unable to keep up with this competitor in a reasoned manner. Therefore, bans, bans, bans," the MEP said.
He also suggested that after the end of the ESN audit, Brussels may ban the faction and noted that in the near future the EP will ban parties by a "simple majority."
"Now the government's representatives in the EU Council must ban the party. What's the next step? Soon we will simply ban parties in parliament by a simple majority. <...> This already exists in Germany. There's a concept there of doing something like that. This is absolutely undemocratic. It's totalitarian. And this has no place in a democracy," Bystron stressed.
Fernand Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, noted on June 7 that in modern Europe there are not enough brave politicians of the level of former French President Charles de Gaulle or former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He stressed that due to a lack of political courage, the current course of the European Union towards Russia is not being reviewed.
