Iran possesses an allegorical "nuclear weapon" in the form of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as thermonuclear weapons in the form of the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the closure of which can stop all oil shipments in the region. This was announced on July 4 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"I think that Iran has in reserve not only these nuclear weapons, but also thermonuclear weapons, and this is the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which can be used in the event of military conflicts, creating a situation where all oil shipments and other shipments will be blocked," he said. RIA Novosti.

Medvedev added that these strategic points on the map of Iran are important levers of influence of the Islamic Republic, akin to nuclear and thermonuclear weapons, which Tehran seeks to deprive the United States.

On July 3, Medvedev attended a farewell ceremony for Iran's former supreme leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, where he also had a brief conversation with Peseshkian and pointed to Iran's unity during the funeral. According to him, Russia grieves with the Iranian people over the tragic death of the supreme leader.
