It is noted that the air temperature in the city has reached 38 degrees. According to the forecasts of the authorities, the heat index may rise to 44 degrees and remain until the end of the week.

In some streets, the road surface softened and began to deform under the influence of high temperatures. Asphalt can be damaged even by hand. People also leave bags of waste at roadsides and near residential buildings in the heat, which increases the unpleasant smell.

Munich Mayor Dominik Krause announced on July 2 that a state of emergency had been declared in the city in connection with water supply due to record heat, drought and falling groundwater levels. It was clarified that due to the increasing shortage of water, the Munich authorities are introducing cost-saving measures. Despite the fact that the drinking water supply remains stable, the city is reducing water consumption: washing windows is suspended, some of the decorative fountains will be turned off, and the working hours of the rest will be significantly reduced.

The newspaper Le Parisien reported on June 28 that in France, since June 24, about 1,000 excess deaths have been recorded against the background of an abnormal heat wave. According to the national health service of Santé publique France, from 24 to 26 June, the daily number of deaths increased from the usual 900-1000 to 1200-1400 cases.
