A tourist was injured during a descent by sapa into the crater of a volcano in Kamchatka

Tourist Mikhail Cherepanov suffered a hip injury while descending through the snow on a boot into the crater of Gorely volcano in Kamchatka. On July 2, Izvestia was informed by the victim himself.

The man was going down the highway into the crater, but because of a bump he lost his balance and began to brake with his foot. Due to the hard landing, he suffered a dislocated hip fracture. After the incident, Cherepanov and his guide contacted the ambulance so that the paramedics could send a helicopter.

"We called, but they explained it (the refusal to fly. — Ed.) by the absence of weather conditions. As a result, they winched me out from inside the volcano, and it so happened that, apparently, some friends there asked, and a private helicopter flew in," he said.

The investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the victim was taken to a medical facility after an unsuccessful descent, where he is receiving all the necessary assistance.
