Dmitriev allowed the ban of swimming pools in the European Union

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), expressed the opinion on June 29 that the authorities of the European Union (EU) may impose a ban on the use of swimming pools.

"The EU may want to ban not only air conditioners, but also swimming pools — it seems that bureaucrats want people to roast," he wrote in X (ex. Twitter).

This is how the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund commented on the incident in Germany, where local law enforcement officers had to evacuate a public swimming pool. This happened after dozens of French citizens climbed over the fence, entered the facility without paying and got into a physical confrontation with the staff.

Dmitriev also suggested that the EU leadership considers the current level of uncontrolled migration, the activity of criminal gangs, the incitement of armed conflicts, as well as systemic errors in energy and economic policy to be insufficient for the "rapid collapse of Western civilization."

An abnormal heat wave was observed in a number of Western European countries at the end of June. On June 27, Reuters reported that residents of French cities were temporarily moving to air-conditioned hotels due to the intense heat. According to the newspaper, on June 24 in Paris, the temperature reached a record high of 40.9 degrees Celsius.

Dmitriev said on June 28 that due to the abnormal heat on the European continent, EU and UK countries are experiencing a shortage of energy for air conditioners, as they had previously refused supplies from Russia.
