Moldova announced its intention to discuss the issue of the PMR at the negotiations on Ukraine

Moldovan President Maia Sandu announced her intention to raise the issue of Transnistria in possible negotiations on ending the conflict in Ukraine. She told about it on June 28 to the Point edition.

"The Transnistrian region is a part of the Republic of Moldova, of course, we are also discussing the Transnistrian region. It is clear that every time we raise this issue, they [the European partners] raise it. We hope that together we can solve this problem," Sandu said.

According to the head of state, the issue of Moldova's membership in the European Union will be decided in Brussels, not in Moscow. Sandu believes that if negotiations take place to end the conflict in Ukraine, the EU may also raise the issue of the PMR. We are talking about the peaceful withdrawal of Russian troops from the region, she stressed.

Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerov said on June 21 that Chisinau was involved in arms supply schemes to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is noted that the embassy does not promptly record the volume of military cargo and the movement of mercenaries, but monitors publications in official sources.

On June 18, Ozerov reported that Ukrainian military transport planes regularly land at the Moldovan Marculesti airfield. According to the diplomat, Chisinau's actions raise questions that primarily concern the observance by the Moldovan authorities of the constitutional status of a neutral state.

Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on May 27 that discussing the potential withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria requires progress in resolving the conflict, which is still far away. Polishchuk commented on the statement made by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, during his visit to Chisinau, that the issue of the withdrawal of the Russian military from the territory of Transnistria should also be considered as part of the negotiations on Ukraine.
