The Russian side is ready to assist in reaching a long-term comprehensive agreement between the United States and Iran. This was announced on June 24 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to him, Russia supports the negotiation process and the achievement of agreements on the cessation of hostilities between the United States and Iran.

"We are ready to assist in the development of a comprehensive long—term agreement between the two countries and, of course, in the context of a broader settlement involving their neighbors, if our good services are in demand," he said.

Lavrov also noted that the resumption of free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz could help strengthen energy and food security in the Global South.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that Russia highly appreciates the signed memorandum between the United States and Iran and the participation of intermediaries in this process. According to him, unblocking the Strait of Hormuz will allow the global economic recovery to begin.

On June 23, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution calling on U.S. President Donald Trump to end the military operation against Iran. 50 senators voted for the adoption of the document, 48 against it. The resolution directs Trump to withdraw the US armed forces from combat operations against Iran unless the use of force is explicitly authorized by an official declaration of war or congressional authorization.
