The Kremlin pointed to the militarization of the US economy through car companies
The conversion of American automakers to produce weapons, including missiles, speaks to the militarization of the US economy. This was announced on June 23 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Of course, the stocks, all the warehouses [of weapons in the United States] are pretty depleted, so they need to be replenished. The economy is militarizing," he said at a briefing.
According to Peskov, such processes are explained by several factors at once. In particular, we are talking about the fighting in the Persian Gulf during the US war against Iran.
In addition, the press secretary of the Russian president noted that the United States continues to supply significant amounts of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, this also has an impact on the state of American military stocks.
On the eve of the US President Donald Trump said that American car companies will soon begin production of military products. Among the weapons that can be produced at factories are Patriot anti—aircraft missile systems and Tomahawk cruise missiles. Automakers with unloaded capacities are already concluding agreements for the manufacture of rocket products. Among them, according to Trump, is the General Motors concern.
