Israel announced its refusal to withdraw troops from the security zone in Lebanon.

Israel does not intend to withdraw its troops from the security zone in southern Lebanon, which includes the area of the historic Beaufort Castle. This was announced on June 21 by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

"Israel has no intention of withdrawing troops from Beaufort...> As Prime Minister [of Israel Benjamin] Netanyahu and I have made clear, Israel will not withdraw troops from the security zone in Lebanon," follows a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, Beaufort is important for the defense of the Galilee settlements, as well as for the actions of the Israel Defense Forces.

The escalation in the south of the country has called into question Washington's barely reached agreements with Tehran.

On June 20, the N12 TV channel reported that the Israeli military, participating in an operation against Hezbollah units in Lebanon, had received orders to stop firing. According to the source of the publication, the corresponding order was given by the Prime Minister of the country and the head of the defense department.

The Reuters news agency reported on the same day that 20 people were killed as a result of Israeli strikes on Lebanon on Saturday, June 20. It was noted that Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles attacked a number of targets in the south of the country and in the Bekaa Valley.
