Bild reported on the alleged closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the IRGC
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), amid the continuation of Israeli hostilities in Lebanon, announced a ban on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on June 19 by the Bild newspaper.
"The IRGC allegedly radioed an order to all ships to stay away from the Strait of Hormuz. There is no official confirmation of this yet," the article says.
Tehran makes a cease-fire "on all fronts" a condition of the peace agreement with the United States, which implies the end of Israeli aggression against Lebanon. However, Israel rejected this condition, saying it did not consider itself part of the deal.
According to the newspaper, the newly created Department for the Affairs of the Strait of Hormuz by Tehran states that the transit of ships is still possible - subject to a preliminary application.
The closure of the strait jeopardizes the operation of the memorandum of understanding signed the day before by the presidents of the United States Donald Trump and Iran Masoud Peseshkian, the newspaper reports.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had been attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon since nightfall. The report emphasizes that the IDF is attacking infrastructure facilities used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
On the same day, American leader Donald Trump said that the signing of the memorandum of understanding with Washington was a capitulation for Tehran. According to the head of the White House, the United States has fully inflicted a military defeat on Iran, using the superiority of its armed forces.
On June 17, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum on the cessation of hostilities. The document was signed remotely. On the same day, Trump stressed that the United States would resume bombing Iran if the final agreement specified in the memorandum was not reached within 60 days.
