The Russian permanent Representative in Vienna pointed to Iran's protection of its interests in the conflict with the United States

Iran is definitely not the losing side in the conflict with Israel and the United States, the Islamic Republic has actually managed to defend its interests. Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, said this in an interview with Izvestia.

"We will proceed from the fact that common sense has won. But Iran is definitely not the losing side, it has managed to defend its interests in fact, as a result of this memorandum, the main negative consequences of the American-Israeli aggression against Iran are being eliminated," Ulyanov said.

According to him, Moscow welcomes the agreement reached, as it is necessary to normalize the situation in the Middle East, and expects that the negotiation process will continue, including on the issues of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

The Russian Permanent Representative stressed that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was a "masterpiece of multilateral diplomacy" created by the efforts of not only Washington and Tehran, but also Russia, Britain, France, Germany and the European Union. In his opinion, it is unlikely that it will be possible to create a better format within the framework of bilateral contacts between Iran and the United States alone.

"We believe that Iran should not have a nuclear bomb. Iran has made this decision itself and has repeatedly confirmed it. But when the Americans raise the issue of the complete elimination of the Iranian nuclear program, we disagree, because this is a deviation from the Treaty on the Non—Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons," Ulyanov added.

The diplomat explained that international law gives non-nuclear countries the opportunity to take advantage of peaceful nuclear energy, and Washington is trying to take it away from Tehran. He stressed that it is not necessary to ban low-level uranium enrichment, it has nothing to do with the creation of nuclear weapons, especially since all this is under the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The upcoming discussions on these issues may prove difficult, but the Russian side is ready to support any solution that the negotiators come to.

On June 17, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum on the cessation of hostilities. The document was signed remotely. On the same day, Trump stressed that the United States would resume bombing Iran if the final agreement specified in the memorandum was not reached within 60 days.
