Moscow and Tashkent plan to increase interstate trade turnover to $30 billion, which they are already actively working on. This was stated on June 16 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting with the head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva.

"There is a task for the governments to bring trade turnover to $30 billion <...> Now we are doing everything possible to diversify economic cooperation," he said.

The Russian Prime Minister clarified that the parties, among other things, are actively developing cooperation in other areas: agriculture, industry, infrastructure and transport modality. Within this framework, he thanked Tashkent for the special conditions it creates for investors from the Russian Federation.

"Many, many projects. <...> Russia is one of the leaders in direct investment in Uzbekistan. And thank you once again for the conditions that have been created in Uzbekistan for Russian investors," the Prime Minister said.

Mishustin added that the results of such Russian-Uzbek tandems were presented in a report by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which he presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mirziyoyev discussed issues of interstate cooperation on May 22. During the conversation, the leaders discussed current tasks and compared plans for contacts in the near future.

On May 8, the Russian leader positively characterized the countries' relations in recent years. Putin noted that trade between Russia and Uzbekistan is growing and trade and economic ties are developing. According to him, the countries are also implementing major joint projects. He added that Russia remains one of the notable investors in the Uzbek economy.
