Washington and Tehran may sign a memorandum of understanding early next week, which will allow them to embark on further negotiations on a long-term agreement. This was reported on June 11 by CBS News, citing two diplomatic sources.

"The memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran is likely to be signed early next week. <...> The signing of the memorandum will begin a 60-day period of negotiations on the details of the agreement between the United States and Iran," their words are quoted in the text.

It is noted that initially the parties must resolve issues of ensuring free trade and unblocking the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is expected to agree to a ban on enriching uranium over the next 15-20 years in exchange for providing it with financing.

According to American intelligence, the Islamic Republic does not really possess nuclear weapons and does not even seek to do so. The US agents, whose details are given in the text, believe that the state was only on its way to this.

Bloomberg reported on the same day that the American and Iranian sides were exchanging messages on a future agreement using a complex scheme involving couriers.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said that his country had been able to reach an agreement with Iran on ending hostilities. He added that Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, even managed to approve the agreements.
