- The US permanent mission reported on Trump's hope for UN assistance in opening Hormuz.
On June 7, Tammy Bruce, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the world Organization, said that American leader Donald Trump believes that the United Nations (UN) is able to help restore normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and stabilize the situation in the region.
"We know that the president pays attention to the UN. He understands her potential," she said on Fox News.
Bruce answered in the affirmative to the question about the UN's role in opening the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, she added that there is a common interest in the situation with the strait, which affects shipping, the economy and other important areas for all.
Iran's Envoy to Russia, Kazem Jalali, announced on June 4 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) that the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is negotiating with the Government of Oman to develop a management mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. Jalali stressed that the strait will be opened under new conditions and the issue of charging a certain fee for the transit of vessels has also been put up for discussion.
