Six people were detained during a peaceful protest against Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the capital, Delhi police said. This was reported on June 6 by the Times of India newspaper.

The demonstration was organized by the youth "Cockroach Party", which has become popular on social networks in recent days, having gathered more than 20 million subscribers. For comparison, just over 9 million people have subscribed to the page of the ruling Indian People's Party.

The rally was held in the center of New Delhi with the participation of hundreds of people, including the founder of the party, Abhijit Deepke, who returned from the United States. The demonstrators carried books, national flags, flowers and masks in the form of cockroaches. Mostly students and young professionals came out to protest.

"Six people were detained by the police to prevent possible clashes between groups during the demonstration of the Cockroach Party," the newspaper notes.

After the rally, a representative of the organization held a press conference and demanded that Pradhan be dismissed within seven days.

The Guardian newspaper reported on May 21 that the satirical "Cockroach Party" in India has gained more than 15 million followers on Instagram in a few days (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). The movement appeared after a resonant statement by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of India, Surya Kant, who during one of the meetings compared some of the unemployed youth to cockroaches.
