Russia has the potential to become a world leader in providing the cheapest source of energy for the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced on June 5 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation.

"We have now analyzed whether Russia may be the cheapest source of energy in the world for artificial intelligence. If you look at our capabilities, we can be 3-4 times cheaper than other sources of energy for artificial intelligence," he said at the session "Economics of the New World Order: Structural Transformation, Challenges and Opportunities."

According to the special representative of the President, such economic efficiency is a key competitive advantage in a dynamically developing technology sector. Dmitriev stressed that the availability of inexpensive energy resources creates significant geopolitical preferences for the country.

"Based on this cheap energy, we can attract and build partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence in Russia. Therefore, it is important for us to use our advantages and the human potential that we have," he added.

On the same day, Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, said at the session "Labor Market 2.0: the dictatorship of AI, the transformation of skills and professions" that about 7.5% of labor functions in Russia can be completely replaced by artificial intelligence. According to him, the ministry has set itself the task of forming an exhaustive list of functions for each profession by the end of this year.
