The new leadership of Hungary supported the use of the European Peace Fund to provide military assistance to Ukraine, which unblocked about €6.6 billion for the purchase of air defense systems. This was reported on June 4 by the Nepszava newspaper, citing sources.

"The last Hungarian veto against Ukraine has been lifted, and the decision to use the European Peace Fund has already been made at the ambassadorial level," the publication says.

It is specified that at the next stage, the European External Action Service will prepare a corresponding draft law, which will then be submitted for approval by the member States of the European Union (EU).

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar said on June 4 that Hungary had agreed to open the first negotiation cluster within the framework of Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) after reaching agreements with Kiev on the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia. According to the head of government, Budapest and Kiev have managed to work out a comprehensive agreement providing for the expansion of linguistic, educational, cultural and political rights of ethnic Hungarians living in Ukraine.
