Technological innovations discussed on the second day of SPIEF
The St. Petersburg Economic Forum is not only impressive, but also generates unique solutions right during the key sessions. Technological innovations are in the spotlight on June 4. It is impossible to imagine the future without any domestic developments.
It sounds like an episode from a science fiction movie: the little rhinestone presented on the forum is actually an artificial retina. With her, even those who have not been able to see since birth will see clearly. There are also the same chips embedded in the brain, they help in rehabilitation.
Another unique domestic development is a sleep cube that helps you get as much sleep as eight hours in three hours.
"It helps you fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, get up less at night, and feel good in the morning due to exposure to low—frequency electromagnetic field pulses," explained Ksenia Utkina, Corporate Client Relations Manager.
Glasses that can be bent any way you want were also presented.
"People wear these glasses to climb Mount Everest, seven or eight times already. Fyodor Konyukhov spent four months in Antarctica building a single polar station," said Alexey Lykov, the brand's founder.
Everyone here has brought something to St. Petersburg that can truly surprise.
"The St. Petersburg Economic Forum is an annual Russian expo, an exhibition of innovations. Whatever the stand is, it has unique technical, creative, and managerial media solutions," said Maxim Prikhodov, a correspondent for Izvestia.
Unique solutions are not only demonstrated here, but they are generated in sessions on the forum. The health of future generations begins to be taken care of with personnel training.
"Life sciences is our priority. Accordingly, everything that we want to apply to the clinic, while building it, we are already laying down as the optimal model that we see, which will allow existing doctors to develop innovations or train those who will not choose and will combine these two careers," said the head of the Talent and Success Educational Foundation, Chairman the Council of the federal territory "Sirius" Elena Shmeleva.
It was decided to develop technologies, returning the popularity of engineering professions. The forum asks the question: is it necessary to revive the Soviet engineering school or is it easier to create a new one?
"Engineering education in the profession will be perceived in the public consciousness as elite when an engineer finds himself at the center of a functioning system. From a scientific idea to a serial product, from the correction of university curricula to a steady stream of specialists," said Katerina Tikhonova, CEO of Innopraktika.
It is the engineering staff that will embody the technological image of the future formed by scientists. Among them is a dialogue about mega-installations: synchrotrons, thermonuclear reactors and colliders. No country can build them alone, Russia is among those who own key technologies.
"So we installed the tokamak, China did not know the word "thermonuclear" 20 years ago. They didn't know. And today they are a great country, they are already doing it all. We create highly professional partners for ourselves. This inevitably turns into a proper partnership," said Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center.
Those who directly manage the processes speak about the most difficult things in an accessible and understandable way on the forum. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov talked about technology, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov talked about diplomacy, cabinet members talked about the logic of government decisions, and heads of major banks talked about money, and all this in the VK Video blogging studio.
"Interviews with such traditional guests of the forum, ministers, deputy prime ministers, as they say, captains of business, are not conducted by professional journalists, but by bloggers with an audience of millions. We translate from the official language into the national language," explained Marianna Maksimovskaya, CEO of VK Video.
Cinema is at the forefront of the media revolution. Right now, while "Black Silk" is being shot in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, "Red Silk" is being talked about as one of the most successful international projects of Russian cinema in its entire history.
"Of course, the most successful Russian box office film abroad in 2025 was the Russian-Chinese film Red Silk. And this is a great success of our collaboration with Chinese filmmakers, but it was not the only successful film. I must say that this year the film "Pinocchio" became, firstly, the first film of the National Media Group to be distributed in the Middle East region," said Svetlana Balanova, General Director of the National Media Group.
Our wine industry is also booming all over the world. Champagne from Novy Sveta, still wines from Valery Zakharin and Massandra. Inkerman, which is 65 years old this year, presents new products.
"We are already experienced, but we do not forget our traditions. At the same time, we are very actively responding to new trends that are emerging: along with classic wines, we produce a wide range of sparkling wines, wines from autochthonous and rare grape varieties, as well as young light wines that are now in high demand on the market," said Alexander Cherny, head of the brand development department at Inkerman Vintage Wine Factory..
The St. Petersburg Economic Forum is a unique platform. There are no industries whose development prospects would not be discussed here by their key participants, and the current results can be seen, touched and tasted.
The day before, the forum focused on the issues of the digital environment for children and adolescents. Experts noted that more than 90% of Russian children start using the Internet from the age of four, so high-quality family content is of particular importance. Svetlana Balanova emphasized that domestic content is becoming more and more in demand among different age groups around the world.
