Russia has financial sovereignty, but it should be monitored and supported in every possible way. This was announced to Izvestia on June 4 by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

"We really have financial sovereignty, it is secured, and it must continue to be supported by all necessary methods," he told Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Ivanov.

The head of the Russian Finance Ministry stressed that it is "very easy" to destroy the financial independence of the state, but in order to re-create the appropriate shield, a lot of work will need to be done.

Siluanov said on June 4 that Russia had achieved absolute financial sovereignty. Now, as he explained, this allows the country to independently make key decisions in the economic sphere. According to him, at the moment the Russian Federation is developing without external investments, relying only on its own resources.

On the same day, Maxim Oreshkin, deputy head of the presidential administration, said that the Russian economy had grown by more than 10% over the past three years, while the European economy had grown by only 3%.
