The Russian Armed Forces hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities thanks to information from the mercenary's phone

The Russian military attacked the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) using coordinates obtained from the mobile phone of a Spanish mercenary. This was reported on June 3 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"The Colombian mercenary William-Andres Gallego Orozco handed over to the Russian military the phone of the Spanish mercenary Perez Rodriguez with the call sign Jackal. The mobile phone turned out to be a storehouse of useful information: the positions of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kharkiv region, the National Guard facilities in the regional center, the names and contact details of officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). After processing and additional exploration of the information received on the enemy's exposed facilities, a fire attack was inflicted," the source told TASS.

According to the source, Rodriguez is a former Marine soldier. According to security officials, since 2024, he has been involved in the conflict in Ukraine, most of the time performing tasks in the rear.

The source noted that the mercenary had been living in Kharkiv for a long time, where he allegedly led an antisocial lifestyle. It is specified that Rodriguez could freely move around Ukraine thanks to a special pass received from the National Guard.

In addition, the agency's interlocutor added that, according to preliminary data, the Spanish mercenary went missing near the village of Izbitskoye in the Volchansky district of the Kharkiv region.

On May 2, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that about 30% of the total number of foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are concentrated in the Kharkiv region. It was clarified that the largest losses were in the Kupyansk area of the special military operation (SVO). According to the structures, a significant part of the foreign forces are Colombian citizens — their number is estimated at 7 thousand people.
