Trump announced his desire to meet with Iran's Supreme leader Khamenei
On June 3, US President Donald Trump told New York Post (NYP) journalist Miranda Devine that he would like to meet with Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
"I did not have the honor to meet him (with Mojtaba Khamenei. — Ed.). <...> I would like to meet with him. I would love to meet everyone. <...> We will probably meet someday, depending on how things turn out," the American leader said.
The US president added that the Iranian supreme leader is an engaged and respected person. According to the head of the White House, Khamenei allegedly has long agreed to a peace deal with Washington.
The day before, Trump denied information about the allegedly suspended US-Iranian talks. He called this information erroneous and unreliable, but did not disclose the details of the ongoing contact with Tehran. On June 1, he claimed that a memorandum of interstate understanding could be signed within the next week.
At the same time, the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagai, said that his country and the American side were considering the possibility of including a clause in the draft agreement on ending the conflict to reinforce the deal with a UN Security Council resolution. At that time, the parties, according to him, discussed 14 key points of the future agreement.
