Rubio called Cuba a threat to U.S. security

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on May 22 that Rubio was trying to provoke military aggression against the country. He stated that Cuba has never been a threat to U.S. security. Rodriguez stressed that the main reason for the crisis on the island was the tightening of sanctions by the United States.

Rubio said on May 21 that Washington would prefer to resolve relations with Cuba through diplomatic means, but the likelihood of such a scenario currently remains low. He added that the United States is ready for dialogue if the Cuban authorities change their position, but for now Washington intends to continue its policy of pressure on Havana.
