The United States has imposed sanctions on Iran's Strait of Hormuz control Authority.
The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on the Iranian administration for the control of the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on May 27 on the website of the American Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The statement described the restrictions as anti-terrorist.
It is also reported that the Office for the Control of the Strait of Hormuz is associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on May 24 that the American side is ready for "very serious negotiations" on the Iranian nuclear program, provided that Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz. It is noted that neither Washington nor Tehran officially disclosed the details of the agreement, however, on Sunday, a U.S. representative announced a preliminary agreement according to which the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened provided that Iran agrees to dispose of its reserves of highly enriched uranium.
US President Donald Trump said on May 23 that the US-Iran deal had been largely agreed upon, and the parties were discussing the final details. The head of the White House added that "in addition to many other elements of the agreement," the Strait of Hormuz will be open to navigation.
