Axios reported on Trump's call for a number of countries to normalize relations with Israel

US President Donald Trump has called on a number of Arab and other Muslim countries to normalize relations with Israel. This was reported on May 24 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"During a conference call on Saturday, President Trump told the leaders of a number of Arab and other Muslim countries that if an agreement was reached to end the war with Iran, he wanted their countries to sign peace agreements with Israel," the publication says.

According to the source, on May 23, during telephone talks with the leaders of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, Trump said he expected normalization of relations with Israel from countries that have not yet participated in the Abraham Accords and do not have a peace treaty with Israel.

According to the portal, representatives of Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, who do not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, were surprised by this initiative.

Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing sources, reported on May 20 that Trump had a "long and difficult" telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It was clarified that the parties could not agree on further steps.

On the same day, Trump had a "very good" conversation with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
