D-30 howitzer crews destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold in the area of the special operation

Military personnel of howitzer crews of the D-30 howitzer division of the 80th tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces destroyed a stronghold of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Dnepropetrovsk area of the special military operation (SVO) disguised in a forest belt. This was announced on May 21 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"We are conducting tactical reconnaissance in the interests of a motorized rifle battalion and an assault squad. The range of our work is much closer than artillery, but we are at the very forefront in our division...> We find a place, set up a UAV control center and start working from this place," said Denis Zharulin, commander of the Unmanned Systems Unit (UAV).

It is noted that the UAV crew of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also located in the fortification, which conducted reconnaissance and fire correction at the positions of Russian military units. The target was detected by aerial reconnaissance vehicles, and its coordinates were transmitted to the artillery unit.

Maxim Furman, the D-30 gun crew member, noted that the combat mission must be completed in about half a minute, and before arriving at the firing position, Russian military personnel prepare and mask the guns.

After receiving instructions, the gunners fired several series of targeted shots with 122-millimeter shells, as a result of which the enemy stronghold was destroyed along with the UAV crew and reconnaissance equipment inside. Due to the destruction of the AFU stronghold, the assault units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were able to advance deep into the enemy's defenses in the Dnepropetrovsk direction.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported a day earlier that the crews of T-80BV tanks of the Vostok group of forces had destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds in the Zaporizhia region. According to the agency, during aerial reconnaissance, UAV operators discovered equipped fortified positions of Ukrainian formations, the coordinates were transferred to tank units. After receiving the combat mission, the tank crews took up firing positions and attacked the enemy's fortifications.
