On May 18, Alexei Pushkov, head of the Federation Council's information policy commission, said that the Chinese side had "slightly humiliated" US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant by not allowing him to attend the event without an accreditation badge.

"The Chinese slightly humiliated the overconfident US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is convinced that he can dictate terms to the whole world by not allowing him to attend an event during the visit of [White House President Donald] Trump without an accreditation badge," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

It is specified that the agent had to wait at the entrance until the assistants brought the accreditation badge from the hotel.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump shook hands at the beginning of the meeting, while the Chinese leader did not allow the head of the White House to seize the initiative in a 14-second handshake. It was noted that the American president repeatedly patted Xi Jinping's palm with his left hand.

Trump arrived in China on a state visit on May 13. This visit was the first visit by an American leader to China in the last nine years. The head of the White House visited China at the personal invitation of Xi Jinping, his visit will last three days, until May 15.
