Slovakia may conclude a gas contract with Azerbaijan for at least 10 years

Slovakia is interested in concluding a long-term gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan for at least ten years. This was announced on May 18 by Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia, Minister of the Environment Tomas Taraba.

"We are discussing a long-term contract with Azerbaijan for at least ten years. Slovakia wants to diversify its energy supplies, and Azerbaijan is a very reliable partner for us," he said in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agencyReport.az ".

According to him, the key issue now is not the willingness of Bratislava to purchase Azerbaijani energy resources, but the choice of routes for their delivery to Central Europe. Taraba also noted that Baku has been a reliable partner for a long time and provides the necessary supplies with high quality.

On April 2, TASS reported that European countries in March set an absolute record for imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over the entire observation period, which occurred against the background of an abnormally long heating season. According to statistics, in March, the volume of regasification and injection of LNG into the gas transportation system of the European Union amounted to about 13.7 billion cubic meters. At the same time, supplies from Azerbaijan for the reporting period are estimated at 2.2%.
