Turkish singer sentenced to prison for posts about the war in Gaza

Turkish singer Yasar Ipek has been sentenced to three years in prison for publications condemning Israel's actions in Gaza. This was reported on May 16 by the Turkish newspaper Yeni Akit.

"Singer Yashar Ipek was sentenced to three years in prison in a case where he was tried for publishing about the Israeli massacres in Gaza," the publication said.

The publication clarifies that the singer received a complaint from the Foundation of the Chief Rabbi of Turkey, related to certain phrases that Ipek used in a publication condemning Israel's actions.

The Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced the musician to three years in prison.
